Interviews
in the Target Language: Making Connections with the Community
The focus of this session is a project to help students
improve their skills in the Spanish language and gain cultural
insights through video-taped interactions with native speakers
of the language in the community. Participants in the session
will share ideas for adapting the project according to the
availability of native speakers, the language level of their
students and the age of the learners.

Planning
and Implementing Interactive Instruction Across the Three
Modes
How do we make the Three Modes of Communication come
alive in classrooms? How do we connect authentic tasks
in Integrated Performance Assessment a unit of instruction?
In this session, we share a unit of study designed to answer
these questions. Attendees will experience a simulation of
selected activities across the modes of communication; presented
in English with examples in Spanish.

Do
You Speak Web 2.0?
Come and get immersed in a virtual experience with innovative
uses of web 2.0 in the classroom! Presenters will provide
an overview of a leadership project about online professional
development, explaining its scope, sequence and purpose.
Teachers in the project will be invited to join the session,
remotely, to speak web 2.0 with the audience. Attendees
will also benefit from hands-on practice with online speaking
activities.

Total
Physical Response Teaching in the Primary Grades
This session will explain why Total Physical Response (TPR)
should be used in teaching foreign language both in general
and moreover, why it should specifically be used with the
primary grades. Tips on the vocabulary, methodology and application
of TPR will be discussed. Examples will be shown that highlight
the physical aspect of TPR.
