Research Assistant. 8/82-9/86. Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry, The University of Iowa College of Dentistry (half-time) and Center for Health Services Research, Department of Preventive Medicine, College of Medicine, The University of Iowa (half-time). In Preventive Dentistry I participated in numerous research projects. I met with faculty and graduate students to discuss data analysis strategies, including which statistics and analysis techniques were most appropriate. Further, I wrote SPSSX, BMDP, and SAS computer programs to conduct the actual analyses and provided interpretation of relevant output. I also coauthored papers pertaining to oral health. CHSR was the research center for the Department of Hospital and Health Administration. The work primarily consisted of analyzing data collected from a cohort of approximately 3600 people aged 65 and over in two Iowa counties. The project was an 8-year epidemiological study of physical and mental health in the elderly.

 

Instructor. Fall Semester, 1984.The University of Iowa, Iowa City.  Solely responsible for teaching Courtship, Marriage, and Alternative Lifestyles.

 

Research Assistant. Half-time. 5/84-8/84. For Dr. Geoffrey Leigh. Department of Home Economics, McBride Hall, the University of Iowa. This project investigated determinants of marriage timing using a longitudinal data set that included over 10,000 cases and approximately 500 variables. 

 

Research Assistant. Half-time. 9/79-8/82; 6/83-9/83. For Dr. Jay Teachman and Dr. Karen Polonko. Department of Sociology, the University of Iowa. Duties included using SPSS, SAS, and BMDP on the University computer system for data set management and data analysis of large data sets.
