This site provides a history of the African experience in America from colonization through the first years after the abolition of slavery. It is a little difficult to navigate in some areas but has good historical pictures and information.

 

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers

This site provides a biography of Martin Luther King, Jr and a time line of his life. It also contains transcripts of his important speeches and papers along with articles written about him in his time.

 

Race and Ethnicity

This is a great sociological site on racism. It discusses a little about historical and cross-cultural race relations, general definition of minority group, intermarriage, and the effects of racism on African American, Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans. It also has an extensive list of links.

 

NAACP

This site provides information about current news in the NAACP and  allows visitors to listen to speeches by people involved with the NAACP.

 

Patrin

This site has the history of the Gypsies, or Roma. They are, perhaps, the most discriminated against minority group in Europe. The site details episodes of racism against the Gypsy, the history of their enslavement in Eastern Europe until the mid-1800's, and attempts by the Gypsies to achieve equality and civil rights.

This site highlights current issues in racism and sexism and actively opposes racist and sexist activities.
