At
IUP, I am active in a variety of ways:
- In
Fall 2004, I became tenured and was promoted from Assistant Professor
to Associate Professor (my vita).
- I
enjoy regularly teaching principles of
economics, experimental economics, public finance, international trade,
information economics, and intermediate microeconomic theory.
- I
additionally have enjoyed teaching
high school students as part the IUP Summer (Honors) Progam in
Economics several years.
- Beginning
in Fall 2003, I serve as Co-Director for the IUP Center for
Economic Education, affiliated with EconomicsPennsylvania and the National Council on Economic Education.
- I
serve on the University Senate
and as Chair of the Library and Educational Services Committee.
- I
have served on the IUP Interfaith
Council.
- I
have been a member of the Asian
Studies Committee.
- During
the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 academic years, I served on the Educational
Offerings subcommittee for the Middle States accredidation review.
- During
the 2004-2005 academic year, I served on the ad hoc Information
Resources Task Force.
- I
am a member of the Department of Economics Curriculum Committee and
have served as committee chair in the past.
- I
participate in Economics
Club events including regular meetings, Dinner at the J's, and
speaking seminars (often returning Department of Economics alumni) on
campus and at Saint Vincent
College. In the past we have traveled to New York City to tour the NYSE and to
Washington, D.C. to tour the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
and the Federal Reserve Bank
(I even got to sit in Alan Greenspan's chair in the Board of Governors
Boardroom!). One year we ran one or more concession stands at
nine Altoona
Curve baseball games as a fundraiser.
- I
have presented my own research at the Southern
Economic Association, Midwest
Economic Association, Pennsylvania
Economic Association, Public
Choice Society, and Society
for the Scientific Study of Religion meetings.
- The
other Dr. Jozefowicz and myself have taken students to present their
own research at the Midwest
Economic Association, Pennsylvania
Economic Association, and Southern
Economic Association annual conferences in various years.
Students have also presented their research on campus at IUP as part of
the Sigma Xi Research Day in the
spring.
- Graduation is always a
celebrated time for myself and IUP students!
