One day, future
archeologists sifting through the 20th
century remains of American civilization will lift the
hood of the buried sarcophagus and reveal who we were by
what we left behind.

following much appreciated correction: "Just wanted to
let you know that the black 1949 Caddy on your

Jon McGuire wrote in with a
correction and the following update...
Dr. Patrick,
I happened across your Car
Tomb page while looking for a good, clean side-on
view of a ‘55 Buick four-door. I can tell you that
the car identified about halfway down the page as a
1955 Buick Century Rivera is actually a 1955 Buick
Super. I chose your page from the Google search
because the car in the Google thumbnail looked
surprisingly similar to my own, right down to the
unusual color. When I viewed the larger
size, I noticed the bent antenna and the crack in
the wing window, and was shocked to discover that it
is actually the exact car I bought in Pennsylvania
last May from a classic car dealer, who himself had
bought it in New Jersey. We drove it 1,000 miles
home to North Florida (after an overnight emergency
brake system rebuild in my father’s garage) and it
is now undergoing a variety of upgrades and
replacements. As you can see from the
attached photo of the car in my garage, its Tomb
status has been delayed for hopefully the
foreseeable future. Thought you might find the story
interesting.
Regards, J.
