Banana Staff Writer Interviews By Banana Staff |
| From places such as Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, New York, Maryland, Indiana,
and even Germany, students have gathered to participate in the IUP Summer
Honors Program.
This week the staff of The Screaming Banana walked around Wallace Hall to interview their fellow students. From these interviews we got to hear opinions, likes, dislikes, and some other personal stuff. How did you hear about this workshop? was a question with many different answers from reading about it in an IUP alumni magazine to hearing about it through friends or siblings. Students also heard about this program through teachers. In fact, many students came here this week with a scholarship. Many students had positive things to say about the program. Most students liked their class and professors. Other students liked hanging out with all the fun people and being in this new atmosphere. A large number of students chose to come here because they were interested in learning about a certain subject. Others just wanted to get a feel of what college life was like. The food here at IUP was another hot topic in these interviews. Among the most popular foods were ice cream, pasta, grilled cheese, and french fries. Whether at home, at school, or just in their spare time, students here partake in a wide range of activities. Basketball, paintball, mountain biking, soccer, and horseback riding are all among some of the athletic activities Summer Honors Program students participate in. Finally, when the question, What do you want to do when you graduate? was asked, the dreams and aspirations of our students were revealed. For many, IUP is where it's at. Other students have yet to begin the college search process. As for occupations, this camp holds a future lawyer, an orthopedic surgeon, and we even have a student who aims to be in public relations for Tony Records. The students in the Journalism Workshop were required to interview other students. While doing so, we met some interesting people. We hope that everyone else had a chance to meet some students as well. |
