Business

Indy Week in Review - Bill and Jared desperately need help with their radio show. A signup was passed around for people interested in hosting or helping with WIUP-FM's Sunday morning news show.

There will be a workshop in the future on how to do a radio show. Anyone can get involved with the show, even if you don't want to actually talk on radio. People are also needed for research and reporting. It's on 90.1 on Sundays from 11a.m.-noon.

During the rest of this semester, there will be a show this weekend and two after Thanksgiving.

  • Committees – A sign up was passed around for the following committees: 1) Finances and Fundraising, 2) Publications, 3) Programs and Workshops, 3) Alumni Relations, 4) Recruiting and Promotions and 5) The Penn. Everyone present signed up for their first and second choices. If you haven't signed up for one, and you'd like to, contact us.

Anthony Fucinari has a spreadsheet of approximately 90 journalism alumni

for the alumni committee to contact regarding workshops, visits or financial support.

  • Letter to the Editor – Bill wrote a letter to the editor for The Penn. He read it aloud, and suggestions were offered. In it he mentions that, although The Penn's debts were forgiven, the underlying issues were never resolved.

We discussed how it should be signed and settled on Bill Harder, president

of the Society of Professional Journalists, and the SPJ. It should be in on Dec. 1, because that will be a large special holiday edition of The Penn.

  • Diabetes Symposium – We're still planning on assisting with the Diabetes symposium in the spring. It's an epidemic in this area, and Murtha's going to fund it. Whoever wants to can help. We'll talk.
  • Workshop – There may be a January workshop on the state freedom of information act.
  • Suggestions – Brandon had the brilliant idea that stories for Indy Week and the publication can overlap.
  • - Kendra requested that we attend journalism conferences

Next Meeting

The next meeting has not yet been set, but setting a regular time and place was discussed at the officers' meeting. If you have any ideas about what day and time you'd prefer, let us know.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
