The Department of Geography and Regional Planning confers four awards to majors based on academic achievement.  Three are based on cumulative grade point averages at the university: the Senior Academic Award for the top graduating senior(s), the Geography and Regional Planning Faculty Scholarship for outstanding juniors, and the Alan Mehwa Scholarship for outstanding sophomores.  The NCGE/AAG Excellence of Scholarship Award is given to one outstanding senior selected for potential to make future contributions to our leading professional organizations.

Awards for the academic year are announced at the Gamma Theta Upsilon banquet (each April) and at the May Departmental Commencement ceremony.  Below are lists of recent winners.  The names of all past Senior Academic Award recipients (back to 1960) appear on plaques outside the geography department office.
