The Internally Displaced
People in Bosaso need help

As
the conflict in Somalia continues more people are
becoming internally displaced refugees or IDPs.
IDP camps are
overcrowded in Bosaso. There are about 10 IDP camps
in Bosaso. These camps are registered from UNICEF
and other foreign agencies that would help them.
IDPs are helped mainly on health and also
education. Small health centers and places for
teaching their children were established for them.
WFP supports IDPs with food on behalf of
international aid organizations and local NGOs.
Each family or household is given food every 30 days
like rice, food oil, mice, nutrition biscuits etc.
In
spite of this IDPs still need a lot of help,
especially those who rely only on the government.
They lack good shelters, toilets and clean water.
They are under the threat of fire outbreaks which
have occurred several times this year. . Assistance
from the national international agencies is not
enough and it comes
after long time.
Everyone
hopes that the stabilization of the Somali
government will offer a more lasting solution to
the IDP problems.
