A visit to the Somali media

I visited the radio station  in Garowe, SBC and Daljir.

I met with editors of the radio stations.  All of them  do not have long history.

According to the editors, the radio stations have faced many challenges caused by the lack of a central government; civil wars and financial problems.

The editors  said their broadcasts are a free business service and whatever. They said their  broadcasts are not  monitored or evaluated by the Puntland Administration. However the editors said they

are careful not to publish anything  anti administration or  what could lead to a panic in the community panic.

They said they broadcast factual  stories and they believe the press is influential in the Somali society. They cover  politics, business, culture, religion, entertainments and other stories that are of interest to the public..
