Background        
East Africa University (EAU) is located about 5 km outside the center of Bosaso town. The university started its operation in October 1999 and has about 500 students.  The first batch of students has completed their degree requirements on February 2005 and is expected to graduate in June this year.

Degree programs offered at the university are:
"        Business Administration
"        Computer Science
"        Shariah and Darasat Islami
"        Faculty of Education is expected to take students in September this year.  

Virtual Distance Electronic Learning Center (VDEL)
Name of the center: - Virtual Distance Electronic Learning Center (VDEL)
Location:  Will be located on EAU main campus and will have branch in the heart of the city

Objectives of the Center
§        Expand access to global learning and knowledge
§        Meet local demand in education, training and professional courses through VDEL program
§        Provide standard education based on information communication technology
§        Provide online courses that could enhance and complete existing courses
§        Enable institutional capability to contribute to the development of the community and the country
§        Link with other international online universities and use digital libraries
§        Facilitate delivery of additional learning programs to undergraduates and postgraduates
§        Acquire other international organizations collaboration with EAU after witnessing the success completion of this project
