Environmental awareness among
people in Hargeisa

The local people of Hargeisa, specially, who living the district of
26 June
are aware that cutting trees without replacing them has created an
environmental problem
for the community.
People of that district also are aware that dumping waste or
plastics on
the streets has created an environmental problem for their
community.
Mukhtar, a Secondary teacher said, “We educate most of the people,
students go
their home and they also tell what good for the environment the most
of other
community”.
A survey that I did shows that around 87 percent of the local
community are aware and nearly 12 percent are not aware that the
trees is resource of
food for them.
What is more, the survey shows that the communities of the district
are
aware approximately 93% that dumping waste or plastics on the
streets has created
environmental problems and 6% percent are not.
