Professional
Interests:
My main research interests over the years have been ecological anthropology,
agricultural systems, hunter-gatherers, rural development, and migration. My
dissertation research was on frontier settlement and agricultural
intensification on Palawan Island in the Philippines. I have also worked as an
applied anthropologist doing agricultural development research and consulting
in Kenya and Indonesia. My current research focuses on migration, agricultural
history, and demography in 19th century rural Pennsylvania.
