Professional Interests:
Dr. Garcia is a cultural anthropologist whose specialty is Latin American studies. His research interests include economic anthropology, especially in peasant societies, and the political economy of agriculture and farm work in the United States. He has done fieldwork in peasant villages in Mexico, in rural communities in California, and, most recently, among Mexican migrant workers in the mushroom industry in eastern Pennsylvania. He teaches courses on Latin America, the economics of peasant societies, and issues facing Latinos in the United States.
